Week 1

This week I made three cups that have an organic feeling to them. I also started to hand build just for fun; in the future I want to build up more layers in the planes(bricks) I build.

Julia Galloway's Library of Cups

Julia Galloway is an amazing ceramic artist. She makes wonderful pots and is very generous with her knowledge. Spend some time and look at/ read about each cup.  In your sketchbook draw some forms and keep track of artists who interest you. Centering: Two Views

This method is similar to what I demonstrated where you move the clay up and down, called "cone-ing".




This technique works with well-wedged clay. The wedging gets the clay particles going in the correct direction and his technique centers the clay.
